Natalie is two weeks old today - so of course I started the day off with a private rendition of "Happy Birthday to You". She tolerates my singing - yay.
Ryan loves his baby sister - loves to kiss her and tell her that he's her big brother. He loves to put diapers in the diaper champ - even though it's upstairs and we change most diapers downstairs. He likes to show her his toys - even though she is totally clueless. He doesn't care.
Natalie had her 2 week appointment today. She's grown 3/4 of an inch and has re-gained the weight she lost after being born. She's currently 21 and 3/4 inches long (93%) and weighs 8 pounds 14 ounces (69%). Her head is 27.5 centimeters (83%). She's a good baby. A good sleeper and a decent nurser. We need some help with her latch but most of the time it's tolerable. She's awake for only a few hours total each day. And she is still having a bit of trouble with gas and pooping. Her doctor isn't worried about it though. She lost her umbilical cord last Wednesday (May 12) and subsequently had a poop explosion which resulted in her first bath. She hated her bath - mainly because she was ready to nurse. At least that's my hope. I need to get the pictures off the camera.
Funny Ryan story: Ryan has always been a good helper. He loves to throw things away. Recently he's taken to telling our automatic garbage can to "OPEN" and "PLOSE" (that would be "close" but he says "plose"). Prior to this yelling of "OPEN/PLOSE", he always manually opened the garbage can. He has been shown that all he has to do is wave his hand over the sensor and it'll open but I am guessing he's forgotten. And he likes to tell it to OPEN. When it doesn't "listen", he gets really close and YELLS at it to open. Which of course makes it open because he's so close to the sensor. It's hysterical. Funny kid.
We had our pictures taken by the very talented Josie of Josephine Gregory Photography this last Monday. E didn't want to be in the pictures but we got some great ones of Natalie and Ryan. I've only seen a few of them but I'll share two of them here.
I can't wait to see the rest! And get our birth announcements made and sent out!
